Washington University of Barbados is aspiring to be one among the
Medical Universities in the Caribbean.
WUB is located on the south east coast of Barbados in the parish of St. Philip. The parish has the Atlantic Ocean as its coastline and residents enjoy the tranquil breezes of the trade winds. On your way to the campus, one can witness the majestic planes of the sugar cane fields. Approximately 15 minutes away from the campus is the Grantley Adams International Airport. Also 15 minutes away, in Six Roads, is the Emerald City Complex which contains various businesses (Carlton Supermarket, Barbados National Bank, Post Office, Electronics & Houseware Store, etc.). Across the street, is the local fast food restaurant, Chefette. There are numerous bus stops along the way. The bus ride into the City of Bridgetown is approximately 30-45 minutes.
The campus is 2,000 square metres with a 400-seat auditorium. It also features a library, fitness center, student lounge, onsite dining and banking. There are computer labs and 19 classrooms, equipped with state of the art digital media equipment.
For our students living on campus students there are 100 units with en-suite bathrooms. The occupancy for these rooms are 5 students per room. Each room is equipped with internet. There are 30 additional units for off-campus living, only 5-minutes walking distance from the campus. All off-campus units are available to students at an affordable rate and include a bed, internet connection, DirectTV, A/C, en-suite bathroom, large and small kitchen appliances.
Casa Grande Hotel is attached to the main campus building and serves as a place to live for our faculty members, administrators and visiting professors. Short term students and their families are welcomed to utilize the hotel.
