GURMAR (HYMNEMA)

Its botanical name is Gymnema – Gymnema sylvestre. It is a climbing plant native to central and southern India. Parts used: root and leaves that contain jimnemic acid or triterpinoid saponins. These acids contain a complex consisting of at least 9 glycosides (vegetable acid sugar). For more than 2 thousand years, the leaves of this plant have been used in India for the treatment of “madu fur” (“honey urine”)- diabetes mellitus. Gymnema is used separately or as a component of a medicinal product used in Ayurveda, which is a mixture of tin, lead, zinc, gymnema leaves, Indian melia leaves (Melia azadirachta), Enicostemma littorale and Eugenia jambolana seeds. Folk healers have noticed that when chewing the leaves of the anthem, a reversible loss of perception of sweet taste occurs. In addition to weakening the ability to distinguish shades of sweet taste, the plant can reduce blood sugar levels. These features of the anthem explain its name in Hindi-gurmar (“destroyer of sugar”). Gymnema has a long history of use in diabetes. There is evidence that this plant can reduce the level of lipids in the blood.

Indications for use: glycosuria (sugar in urine), diseases of the genitourinary tract, sensitivity to sugar and diabetes. Studies have shown that gourmar increases the ability of the islets of Langerhans cells in the pancreas to secrete insulin in people with type I and type II diabetes.

Method of application of gourmet:

This plant is taken in the form of capsules of 500 milligrams an hour and a half before meals. However, it does not lose its effectiveness if taken right before or immediately after a meal.

Gourmet will help reduce cravings for sweet food for the whole day and, very importantly, will help to normalize both high and low blood sugar levels. People who absolutely do not tolerate sugar, after taking this plant for 2 to 6 months will be able to use it in moderate doses. For children who abuse sweets or are unable to move from phase 1 to phase 2, or those who simply cannot follow the instructions of phase 1, gourmar is an extremely important drug that solves the problem of instability of blood sugar.

Contraindications:

– Anthem should be used with caution if you are taking medications, herbs or supplements prescribed by a doctor to reduce blood sugar levels. If you are taking diabetes medications or taking insulin injections, you should be under close medical supervision while taking gymnema, as you may need to change dosages.

– Gymnema can reduce the body’s absorption of oleic acid (fatty acid). It can also affect the absorption of other important lipids or fat-soluble vitamins, such as A, D, E and K, but research data in this regard are inconclusive

– Do not use anthem during pregnancy and lactation. There is insufficient data on its effectiveness and safety.
